Heisman Winners Visit Lion's Den
NEW YORK – The 2011 Heisman Memorial Trophy winner - Robert Griffin III - spent two hours today visiting the Lion's Den and patients at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in New York City. He was joined by former Heisman winners Johnny Rodgers (1972), Mike Rozier (1983), and his mom, dad and sister.
The group spent time in the Lion's Den and participated in a WebEx video session to other hospitals. They then went to visit the bedsides of children most in need during this holiday season. Griffin joked with the patients and showed off his festive Santa Claus socks to all who inquired. His parents are both former military members and their youngest child's mannerisms reflect that upbringing with lots of "Yes sir" and "No sirs" punctuating his conversations.
Griffin is finishing his third year at Baylor University in Waco, TX, but he has already completed his undergrad requirements and is starting on his Masters degree. He and his teammates will face the University of Washington in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29th in San Antonio, TX.
