Maria Fareri Lion's Den Re-Dedication
On May 21, 2015, Pat LaFontaine returned to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital to help re-dedicate the original Lion's Den that had opened 11 years earlier. The room, originally donated by Billie and George Ross was in need of an update, and the Krase Family of Chappaqua stepped up in a huge way. In the summer of 2014, Scott Krase and his son Jackson gathered 13 volunteers and they scaled the 19,000+-foot peak of Mount Kilimanjaro! The group raised more than $40,000 in their quest, and then the Krase Family donated an additional $15,000 to complete the make-over of the Lion's Den Room. In addition to speeches by Jackson and LaFontaine, the re-dedication featured appearances by Brenda Fareri, Dr. Michael Gewitz, Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and Michael Israel, President and CEO of Westchester Medical Center.
